The mission of Des Moines County Emergency Medical Services Association is to cultivate emergency medical services and providers to provide emergency medical care which meets or exceeds expectations held by the residents and guests of Des Moines County, Iowa.
We will achieve our mission by engaging in strategic cooperation with other public and private organizations, endorsing professional and public education, and standing united.
Des Moines County Emergency Medical Services Association envisions a future where emergency medial providers will be integrated into the health care system for purpose of:
- Providing best, most efficient care for acute injury/illness
- Preventing injury/illness within community (general population)
- Maximizing resources (Pub Health, EMS, Hospital) for treatment of non acute injury/illness
- Emergency Medical providers continue to be a vital Public Safety link between community and definitive treatment of acute injury/illness.
Emergency medical treatment is based on field data and scientific research.
Paramedics may be the only or primary healthcare provider to rural and/or wilderness residents.
Des Moines County EMS is now a unified EMS system with universal protocols, and a single medical director. We are proud to lead the way for other communities to develop EMS systems in Iowa.
